The power came on as I was filming this video. I'm one of the lucky ones; as of last night 20,000 people were still without power in Fayetteville alone.
Obama declared us a disaster area, and our crews are working tirelessly to clear the roads. I've heard that the trails will start to be cleared in about a week, give or take.Read more of this post.

New media and governance in Fayetteville

I did some research you might find interesting. I'm writing a post and putting together some pretty graphs, but to whet your appetite: more than 23,000 people in Fayetteville are using Facebook, and that number only includes people over the age of 18. I think we need an ordinance that requires the city to post notifications on Facebook. It shouldn't stop there, either. I think the city needs to assemble a list of blogs and other websites that will be notified along with traditional media. We should publish the list of media sources we send information to, and make a statement that we recognize and embrace the direction journalism is headed.Read more of this post.
